Arise, Shine for your light has come

God wants to invite us out of the spiritual darkness into light.

The term light is an important discovery in the evolution of man. Thomas Edison invented light in the year 1879 after experimenting with 2000 objects. Long before, Thomas Edison discovered the light bulb, our forefathers learned how to ignite a fire. The fire gave them light and kept them warm. The fire helped them to cook and kept them safe from animals. But long before man ignited the fire, God created the light with his word. He said, Let there be light, and the light came into this world. Unlike Thomas Edison’s invention, the God of heaven and earth need not experiment with 2000 objects. He just said. “Let there be light,” and the light filled the earth. He is the same God we are praying to every day. He is the God we are trusting in and clinging dearly to answer our prayers. His one word can change our life.

God created light to take away the darkness. The state of darkness exists as long as there is no light. God knew both the physical and the spiritual world needs light. The light from the sun and the moon does not provide a solution to human struggles. They are a good fit for a physical world, but not helpful to remove the spiritual darkness.

What is Spiritual Darkness?

When there is darkness, we struggle to navigate, even when we walk inside our homes. Without proper visibility, there is a high possibility we stumble and fall on objects. The same applies to our spiritual life, too. We might unknowingly fall and get trapped in things such as debt, uncontrolled obsessions such as gambling, and improper sexual desires. Without the spiritual light, we do not have clear clarity and awareness of the dangerous traps ahead of us in our life. Our chain of decisions made in darkness leads us to a place from where there is no return. We need spiritual light to foresee the dangers ahead of us.

Light of the world

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” Our Lord Jesus provides clarity to all our questions and doubts when we ask Him to lead us and when we diligently follow Him. He can guide us past all traps in our life. King David wrote, “My eyes are always on the Lord, for he rescues me from the traps of my enemies.” Let’s invite our God to be our light of life.

Even though our life seems to be filled with traps, mine, and struggles, Jesus can lead us safely through. The light of God will take away the darkness. Let it reveal the hidden motives and secrets in our life. Let the light of Jesus consume and burn the negative, anxious and depressed thoughts from our minds.

Arise, Shine for your light has Come

The Bible says, “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.” This is the promise we have in God. Let’s go to Jesus and ask him to fill us with his light. Please place your hand on your heart and call upon the name of Jesus. Pray the below prayer in your own words. Invite Jesus, who is the light of the world, into your heart.

Dear Jesus, you are my light amid the darkness. I invite you into my life. Please be my light. For your honor, forgive my many, many sins. Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth. Wash me with your precious blood. You alone can show me the way forward. Let your light shine. Lead me and show me the way. Help me make the right choices in my life. Show me all the hidden traps ahead in my life. Jesus, turn to me and have mercy on me. I am in deep distress. Feel my pain and see all my troubles. Forgive all my sins. I put all my hope in you. I put all my trust in you. In Jesus’s mighty name, I pray. Amen.

How do I find this light?

The Bible says, “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” The Bible is a lamp and guide to our life. The word of God in the Bible can comfort us, counsel us and guide us. Every word in the Bible is inspired by God for the benefit of our life.

Jesus said, “Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. But when it is unhealthy, your body is filled with darkness”

Please keep your eyes clean. It can quickly push your life into darkness and darken life. Let it see what is holy. Flee from all forms of lust.

Consult Jesus in all major decisions of life. Whether it is about starting a new business or investing in a house. Let Jesus guide us and tell us what is good for us.

Finally, we want to leave you with the below verse for you to meditate upon and ask Jesus how it can be applied in your life.

The Lord is my light and my salvation- so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?

Dear friend, we are praying along with you. Do not hold on to the light of Jesus within your life alone. Share it with others. Tell them how Jesus changed your life. Pass on the light to others. Jesus said, “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.” Let your light shine. Let others see the glory of God through you.
