(Based on parable Jesus said - Matthew 13:1-18)
God draws our attention every day through many means. Nature keeps telling us how big God is. The orderliness of the universe the way the planets take the regular orbits and their respective positions point to a creator behind all creations. Though we ignore God, he keeps drawing our attention every day in various ways. He keeps planting his seeds of love, caution, and warnings. His seeds point your heart toward His kingdom. God never rests. He keeps sowing seeds so that we all can respond to His loving call. But the human heart responds to His loving call in different ways.
The Story of the Sower
Jesus explained the context of His loving call and the human response using a story. A farmer starts sowing his seeds. As he scattered his seeds all around his farm, some seeds fell on the pathway. The birds came and ate it. which did not allow the seed to grow. Some seeds fell on the rocky places. Though it started growing when the sun came up it dried quickly. Others fell among the thorny bushes. The seeds started growing, but when it grew it was crushed by the thorny bushes and it could not come out of it. The plant finally died. But other seeds fell on the good fertile land. They grew and produced yield for the farmer.
Now the seed is God's loving call. His invitation is given to all of us. It's not specific to an individual based on their education, qualification, status, or background. The invitation of God is for everyone. The loving invitation to His kingdom is the same. No two individuals get two different kinds of invitations. The difference is our ability to accept it. Our hearts are different. Our reception to God's call and response is different.
Seed on the Path Way
The seed that falls on the pathway depicts people who don't understand or realize the importance of it. Their life is busy and full. They do not need God. Hence they have no time to think about it. No time to understand God's loving call and the impact it will make in their life. Dear friend is your life have no place for God? Are you satisfied with your own goals and achievements? Please check your heart. It's never too late to reconcile His loving call.
Seed Fell on the Rock
The seed that has fallen on the rock depicts people who understand the loving call. They realized the importance and privilege of God's call. They know it is real and true. But they did not pursue it. Though they gladly accepted it, they did not make conscious decisions to pursue God's call in their everyday life. When things in their life became difficult they started blaming God for everything. Very soon they forgot it what they once believed and accepted. They went back to past life. Dear friend, have you received God's call in your life and responded to it in the past? Have you moved away and continued your life differently now due to problems in life? God is inviting you back. His invitation is still open. Would you decide to come back to Him and accept His call? Would you decide to pursue Him all your life?
Seed feel among Thorns
The seed that fell among the thorns refers to people who heard the call of God. They understood and accepted His loving call. They pursued it diligently. But they saw the others chasing different lives. There were wealth and career goals that attracted them. Their concern for their future started bothering them. At some point in life, they shifted their focus from God. Their life purpose was more motivated by their immediate goals on earth and the wealth it offered. They slowly forgot about the decision they made with God. My dear friend, are you one of those who followed God diligently but shifted your focus to other things? God is looking for you today. He wants you to come back to Him. It's never wrong to have a career aspiration. The Bible says Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Which is the first in your life? Is it a concern about God and His kingdom or something else? Would you accept His call again in your life?
Seed fell on the Fertile land
The fourth kind of seeds fell on the fertile land. They understood, accepted, and pursued diligently the loving call God has given them. Jesus said they produced multiple folds of yield to the farmer.
God still keeps sowing. He keeps calling everyone. But the final decision to His call depends on how our heart reacts to it. It can react in four different ways. (1)You can choose to ignore his call. (2) You can choose the accept, realize the importance of it, and then choose not to pursue it. (3)You can choose to accept, pursue gladly, and then choose to follow something else instead of God's call. (4)You can choose to follow God wholeheartedly till the end.
What's Your decision?
Dear friend, how is your heart reacting to God's call today? Don't you want to accept His call and follow Jesus? Jesus wants to forgive all your past. All of us have difficulties and unfilled aspirations in life. There can't be a better aspiration than securing heaven. The unfinished business in life can wait. Let us seek His kingdom first. Are you ready? Let's pray.
