The Decisions That decide our destiny

4.5

Today we are going to meditate on the decisions that decide our destiny. God gave us freedom of choice. He has kept all the doors of our life open. He has given us full freedom and power to choose what we want to do. But then the freedom comes with the warning. The Bible says, “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice, and holding fast to him

We can choose to be proud instead of humble. We can choose to behave impulsively, yielding to our fleshly desires instead of obeying spiritual discipline. There are times we can choose to make our own decisions instead of waiting for God’s guidance. Here are some of the incorrect decisions that can change the course of our destiny.

Impulsive decisions

We make impulsive decisions when we are tired, angry, depressed, or disappointed. Esau in the Bible was tired, hungry, and disappointed that he was unsuccessful in his hunting that day. He threw away all his blessings impulsively for a cup of porridge. For one simple food, he threw away the lifelong blessings without realizing what he has done.

Judas betrayed Jesus and impulsively ended his life. While on the same night, Peter denounced Jesus impulsively but reconciled with Jesus. The choices we make build our life.

The Bible says, “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry."

Let’s take a deep look at our life. If you are getting upset, angry, and depressed often, then please do not make an important decision during such times. Ask Jesus to fill your heart with peace. Pray about all your important decisions. Allow God to speak to you. We do not have to throw away our life in one impulsive decision and regret it forever.

Decisions because of Uncontrolled Desires

The uncontrolled desires that live in us destroy our life. Uncontrolled desires are powerful explosives that have preset timers to blow up our life. King David could not control his desire when he saw the young Bathsheba. He became a liar, cheater, and murderer. The chain of unimaginable consequences unfolded in his life, all because David could not control the desires of his flesh. Because of this, a sword followed his family throughout his life.

The uncontrolled desires to earn, spend and enjoy money led to unexplainable consequences and pain. The Bible says, “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.“

Let’s search our hearts and identify uncontrolled desires in our hearts. Let’s ask Jesus to come and heal us and remove all our uncontrolled obsessions and desires. Jesus will guard our hearts and protect us. Let us pray as the Psalmist prays. Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.

Decisions made of our Zeal & Jealousy

Because of personal zeal, we show who we are and what we can do. Some say they are born like that, and they can’t change their life.

Decisions made in jealousy grow as we do a comparative analysis of our life with others. We want to be better than others and desire to own better things than others. The Bible says, “Anger is cruel and fury overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy? “Jealousy is more dangerous than anger. Let’s allow the holy spirit to take away the jealousy from our hearts.

Jesus wants to help us come out of our personal zeal. Jesus wants to heal our hearts from jealousy. If we give our hearts to Jesus, then He will chip away every zeal and jealousy from our life and shape our lives for eternal life.

Bold Decisions against God

We make intentional and purposeful bold choices against God. Many who write to us live their life with their partners, not with their husbands. We humbly plead with them to get into a married relationship. All of us know the concept of marriage is between a man and a woman. We do not have to rebel against it. The bold decisions are the ones that we know it is wrong and we still do them. Please do not fight with God. We are mere men and women.

Dear friend, we decide our destiny in life based on the decisions we make. Let’s humble our hearts today and go to Jesus. There may be areas in our life we struggle with for a long time but cannot change. There are uncontrolled desires in our life we are not able to come out of. There are hurts and wounds in our heart that is not healing. Let’s go to Jesus as we are today and surrender our life to Him. Let’s pray.

Dear Jesus, we are praying along with a dear friend who is praying with us right now. Please help them make the right choices in their life. Help them to flee from bold decisions. Help them to control all the desires in their life. Please Help us wait for your guidance. Please speak to everyone who is reading this message. You are our God. You alone can guide our lives and help us keep our hearts clean. Forgive their past mistakes. Wash them with your precious blood. Hold their hands and lead them to green pastures. Heal them physically, spiritually, and mentally. We pray for everyone’s mental health. We plead with you to heal them. Fill everyone’s mind with your heavenly peace. Let your peace cover them all. May Jesus’s name, we pray. Amen.

Dear friend, we are praying for you to make the right decisions throughout this month. May Jesus bless you and make you a blessing for many.
