God’s care for the Single Mom – Hagar
Bible Reading: Genesis 21:8-21 ESV
Hagar was a slave purchased from Egypt. She was forcibly married to Abraham at the age of 86 when Sarah, her master, could not conceive a baby with Abraham. Abraham and Hagar had a son named Ishmael. When Sarah conceived a baby after 14 years of being herself, she wanted to send Hagar and Ishmael away from her home.
Hagar, who was forcibly married to Abraham, had to leave her home. She was already a slave. Now, her husband sent her away only with a meal and a jar of water. The Bible says, “So Abraham got up early the next morning, prepared food and a container of water, and strapped them on Hagar’s shoulders. Then he sent her away with their son, and she wandered aimlessly in the wilderness of Beersheba.”
Hagar became a single mom. She has no one to call family. She is on her own with her only son. When she exhausted all her resources during this journey. At one point her son Ishmael was exhausted and was about to die. Hagar had no other option but to save her son. She just could not see her son die before her own eyes. She wept and wept.
The Bible says, “The angel of God called to Hagar from heaven, “Hagar, what’s wrong? Do not be afraid! God has heard the boy crying as he lies there. Go to him and comfort him, for I will make a great nation from his descendants.”
God wiped away the tears of Hagar and took care of Ishmael. He grew and became a mighty man.
Dear sister, Are you experiencing the same agony that Hagar has? Are you weeping and crying for your future and your children’s future? God will take care of you and your future. The same God who spoke to Hagar wants to speak to you and give you new directions.

God cared for a single mom who was in poverty
Bible Reading: 1 Kings 17:8-16 ESV
A widow had nothing to eat except a small portion of food. She decided to eat her last meal and die along with her son. There was no income and no source of livelihood.
There was no rain, and the country was plunged into famine and poverty. For the single mother, death was the only solution to her life’s problems. God sent the prophet Elijah to her place. Elijah said, “For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: There will always be flour and olive oil left in your containers until the time when the Lord sends rain and the crops grow again!”
God cared for the widow and her son. He cares for your family, too. He knows every financial need of your family. God will surely answer the prayers.
Jesus raised the Single mom’s son alive
Bible Reading: Luke 7:7-17 ESV
Once, Jesus came across a funeral procession. The deceased was a young man who was the only son of a widow. When Jesus saw the widow’s state he had compassion for her.
The Bible says, “When the Lord (Jesus) saw her, his heart overflowed with compassion. “Don’t cry!” he said. Then he walked over to the coffin and touched it, and the bearers stopped. “Young man,” he said, “I tell you, get up.” Then the dead boy sat up and began to talk! And Jesus gave him back to his mother.”
Dear Sister, what about your child? Is your child physically sick? Maybe they are fine physically, but they are spiritually far away from God. Jesus wants to heal them and give them new life.
Jesus is the heavenly father to your children.
Dear sister, Are you worried your children do not have an earthly father? Jesus is their heavenly father.
The Lord says, “I will teach all your children, and they will enjoy great peace.”
If God has to teach our kids about life, we have to teach our children about God. We must tell our children how good God is and how He can help them through difficult times. Our children have to know God and have a deep understanding of what God likes and dislikes. For example, God hates sin. He opposes pride.
The Bible says, Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, so that as long as the sky remains above the earth, you and your children may flourish in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors.
Invite Jesus to your home.
Please invite your children to family prayer every day. Invite Jesus into your home. Let your children pray the Lord’s prayer by seeking the Lord from the bottom of your heart. Let Him be the master of your home. Ask Him before you make important choices in your life.
We know you want to give your children the best education. But please teach them how to follow God, immerse them in daily prayer, and teach them about Jesus.
We are going to pray together. We do not know from which part of the world you are reading this web page on the internet. But we know Jesus is with you right now. You are not alone. You are not fighting your battle all by yourself. Jesus wants to help you. He wants to comfort your heart right now. Let’s go to His glorious presence and invite Jesus into your life.
Please place your hand on your heart and call upon the name of Jesus. Pray the below prayer along with us from the bottom of your heart. Jesus is listening. Let’s pray.
Dear Jesus, we are praying along with our dear sister. We know you are with her right now. Together, we come to your presence with a humble heart. You are our God. You have died for us on the cross and carried all our life’s burdens.
Please come and touch the dear sister and her family. You know her past and the hurt she has gone through. Please heal her and comfort her. Wipe away all the tears. May your nail-pierced hands touch her heart.
Please bless their family and the dear children you have given. You are their guard, protector, and heavenly father of this family. Forgive their past mistakes, if any. Wash them with your precious blood. Please hold their hands and walk with them.
Lead them and teach them the way. Please help them to make the right choices. Jesus, we lift your name. We believe in you. We put all our trust in you. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
