Bible Reading – Mathew 6:25-34

Dear friend, God cares for your life. You are so precious to Jesus, who died for every one of us on the cross. Are you worried about various things in life? Do not worry. Jesus is going to speak to you today. He will answer your prayers. He is the God who answers our prayers. He will surely lead you.

We humbly ask you to read the Bible verse mentioned above before continuing to read the message below.

Are you worried today?

Are you worried today? Jesus asked, “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” None of us can turn the clock backward or forward. We can neither go back in time to correct our past nor can not go forward in the future. We have only one life. We can’t spend (or waste) all the God-given blessed lifetime by worrying. Jesus is well aware of it.

Luke documents the above question asked by Jesus slightly differently. “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?” We tell our children if they can’t do addition, it is difficult to do multiplication. We know addition is simple, and multiplication is more complex than addition. In the same context, Jesus is asking a question to us. For God, adding an hour to our lifespan is a little thing. For us, it is impossible. If we can’t do simple stuff, such as adding an hour to our life, why do we try to worry about so many things in our lives?

Someone might say, my debtors are calling me and using abusive words against me. How can I not worry about the situation? I have a lingering problem with my body. I have a painful mind that keeps thinking negatively, depressively, and anxiously. I worry about my children. I am jobless. I worry about my relationship. I am worried; I have tough exams coming up. What do I do? The list of our worries continues.

How do we handle our Worries?

The God who said not to worry also offered a solution. Most of us know it very well by heart. Jesus said, “Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” – Matthew 6:33. This is the solution offered by Jesus. But what does this mean? Let’s try to understand it.

Knowing the heart of Jesus is everything about following Christ in our lives. We can not follow Christ unless we know Him. We pray daily, saying, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, you will be done.” But we hardly have time to think about how to make the kingdom come to earth. We will never be able to understand it unless, as Jesus said, we seek His kingdom.

Inviting Jesus into our home

If the Kingdom of God needs to be installed in this world, it must start with us first and our family. We need to invite Jesus into our lives and our homes. We should identify our family members who have not accepted Him. We should humbly pray to Jesus and ask Him to touch every family member. The Bible says, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved-you and your household.” This is a biblical promise. We can hold this verse in our minds and pray to Jesus. He will surely touch every member of our family.

Let Others See Jesus through you.

Gandhi, who fought for India’s freedom, once said, “I like your Christ, but not your Christianity.” It is Gandhi’s view of the Christians through the oppressive rule of the West during the Indian independence struggle. He could not find much relation between the teaching of Christ mentioned in the Bible and Christians. Not many who follow Christ today can witness Him through our life. Our life becomes an open Bible for those who don’t have one. Very few read the Bible. But many get to read our lives. They come to know about the Christ we reflect through our attitude.

The Bible gives detailed instructions for our living.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low positions. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. – Romans 14:12-19

As you seek the Kingdom of heaven with all your heart, Jesus will remove all the worries and fill your life with peace.

Jesus wants to take away all your worries, wipe away all your tears, and forgive all your past mistakes. He cares for you more than anything else in this world. Are you ready to invite Him into your life and family? We are called to seek the welfare of the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus invites every one of us to be part of His grand plan. Let’s go to His presence and pray to Him. He is a great comforter.

Prayer to come out of worries.

Please place your hand on your heart and call upon the name of Jesus. Pray the below prayer from the bottom of your heart in your own words. Jesus is listening to our prayers.

Dear Jesus, we are praying with every brother and sister who is praying with us right now. Jesus, we let you down so many times in our life. We did not live a clean life. Please forgive us. We did not bother to live a life worthy of your kingdom.

We wasted our time and were so selfish. Please forgive our past mistakes, cleanse our lives, help us to be Holy as you are Holy, help others see Christ through our lives, and let those who see us glorify your name.

Please hold our hands and lead us. Come and fill us with your heavenly peace and love. We pray for everyone who is buried with worries. Please touch their lives, heal their hearts, lift them, and embrace them. You are our hope. Please help them overcome their problems. We pray in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Dear friend, thanks so much for joining us. Jesus loves you. He will surely lift you. Do not forget what Jesus said, “Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Jesus will fulfill your needs according to His great will.
