Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces (NLT). - The Bible
The spread of COVID-19 has become unmanageable in many countries. The poor men were infected. The prince and princess were not exempted. The developed countries are grappling with fear. We thought it is a disease for the old but we also lost the young and the fit. Some said only people with less immunity would die, but strong men perished before our own eyes. Whoever boasted and whoever thought they figured out a solution for the situation were made to pause and retreat their words. Many smart men shifted their statements, recalibrated their positions and offered an apology for speaking too soon without realizing the situation.
For the very first time this generation is seeing international lockdowns, social distancing and the associated risks. Can someone predict the future? Can someone calculate the scale of the economic impact post current situation? These are times of uncertainty, fear and hopelessness.
Many years back, King David had a difficult life. He had been hiding in caves and running from people who wanted to kill him. His future was filled with darkness. There were days of uncertainty, fear and hopelessness. One day he reflected on his future and wrote the below song.
I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; (NIV)
David was obviously worried about his future. He was concerned. But he chose to put his trust in God who created heaven and the earth. He knew when God is watching over him and no harm will come near him.
Dear Friend, Is your heart troubled today? Are you worried about what is happening around the world and keep thinking about your future? You can choose to put your trust on God who created heaven and earth. The God who created you know how to watch over you and protect you from all the harm. It does not matter whether you are rich or poor, whether you have a job or not, whether you are white or blue collar. You can put your hope on God who loves and cares for you.
What is impossible for man is possible for God. Trade your hopelessness, uncertainties and confusion with Hope, Peace and Joy. Jesus said Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
My dear Friend, wherever you are right now, put your trust on God and let your eyes be always focused on Him. Shall we pray?
Dear God, I am worried. I am concerned about my future. The safety of my family is at stake. In the midst of uncertainties, i want to put my trust on you. Let my eyes be focused on your promises and your protection. Lord, take away the fear and give me hope. Fill my life with a peace that comes from you. Lead me and guide me. You are the beginning and the end. Alpha and omega. You know the past, present and the future. Lord, let me surrender my life in to your powerful arms. Take care of me. Protect. You are my mountain and my helper. Be with me. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
I would like to leave you with the rest of song King David wrote. May this song echo every corner of your life. May it bring freshness and resounding joy to your soul. May God bless you and make you a blessing for many. We are praying for you.
He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
