According to the Bible Jesus was crucified around Mar-April time period. This conclusion was derived from the fact Jesus was crucified during the Passover period. The Passover was normally celebrated between March and April. In order to decide the year more closely, we would have to look at the political context in Judea during that period on the basis of scripture and history. According to the new New Testament Jesus was sentenced to be crucified by Pontius Pilate. He was the Prefect of Judea from AD 26 to AD 36. Hence Jesus should have been crucified during this period.
Jesus started his ministry at the age of thirty based on the assumption a person was called as Rabi only when he turns thirty. There were three Passovers mentioned in the Bible. Hence Jesus age at the time of crucifixion was widely accepted as 33. Now in order to fix the year of crucifixion, we need to fix his year of birth. Jesus was born during the reign of Herod the great according to the Bible. Herod the Great died in 4 BC. Hence Jesus should have born before 4BC. Even if we assume Jesus was born on 5 or 6 BC then a year in which Jesus was crucified could be around AD 27/28 March/April time frame. It exactly falls in the period during which Pontius Pilot was prefect in Judea. But kindly note there was an assumption made on Jesus age and birth year. Hence the calculation is not full proof.
Though we may not be able to arrive at the exact year of birth of Jesus we for sure know that he was born during the reign of Herod the great. Jesus's father Joseph was asked to go to Egypt to keep infant Jesus safe as Herod was trying to kill Jesus after hearing about him through Maggi. They returned back to Jerusalem after the death of Herod the great. Hence the assumption of around 6 AD was made as the birth year of Jesus Christ.
Similarly, we surely know Jesus was crucified during Pontius Pilate's term as Prefect in Judea that was between AD 26 to AD 37. The birth and death of Jesus remained always historical. The story of Jesus was never a fiction.
