How to understand God’s heart while we plan our future?

We start a new year with new resolutions and plans. We would like to retrospect and correct the mistakes we have done in the last year. Some of us want to forget the bitter things that happened last year. We look forward to answers to our unanswered prayers. Many of you might look for a job, promotion, growth in business, healing, reconciliation in family relationships, financial blessings, and the list can continue to go on. Jesus has a keen interest in your welfare and happiness It's very essential to understand the heart of Jesus, while we focus on our future needs.

Father’s heart for the welfare of His children

Jesus is our heavenly father. A father’s heart always wants to provide the best for his children. He wants his children to be blessed. It’s always God’s wish that His children live in peace and joy. Jesus said, “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!“ Jesus cares for our future dearly.

A father may not gift a knife to his children, which is harmful to the child. Neither will he give a diamond to his child, which the child does not know how to manage. Similarly, God knows what to give, when to give, and how much to give to us.

The reason for our unanswered prayers will be clear to us when we meet our God in heaven. He will surely have a wise reason, why our prayers were not answered. We will rejoice and be happy when we hear that reason in His holy presence.

The wise man Solomon explains this: “God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.“

Sometimes we cannot wait for God’s precious timing. Other times, our hearts cannot understand God’s bigger plan for our life.

Our Concern for our Heavenly father’s happiness

While we seek God to bless our lives, we should ensure He is happy with what we do in everyday life. We should search our hearts and check if we are doing anything that is hurting our heavenly father. Let’s take some time to search our hearts.

The Psalmist said, “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.“ As we continue our walk with Jesus, let’s seek and ask Him to reveal any mistakes that we have done knowingly or unknowingly. We can ask God to heal us from our uncontrolled obsessions and lack of contentment in life. Jesus will forgive us and help us make our life right before Him. The Bible says, “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.“

God’s desire for our eternal life

The priority for God is to make sure we all go to Heaven and enjoy our eternity with Him. Moses said, “Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.“ Life on earth is short, but life in heaven continues for eternity. Jesus wants to make sure our hearts are prepared to meet Him in His holy presence. He loves and looks forward to our presence in heaven. Jesus is working and building a home for us. He said, “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am

I was recently watching the world cup's final post-match celebration. It was so beautiful to see the fireworks they have arranged. I was telling myself if this mere human effort is so beautiful, then how marvelous heaven would be. How extravagant and elegant the house Jesus building for you and me would be?

Our life goals, needs, and plans should align with God’s heavenly purpose. Jesus is working and building a grand future for each one of us.

Let’s set our eyes on heaven. Let our hearts be filled with thoughts of heaven. Jesus cares about our immediate needs. He wants to help us. Let’s go to Him in prayer.

Dear Jesus, we are praying along with our dear friend. You love us so much. Please reveal to us how much you care for them. Forgive our past mistakes. Search our hearts and show us if there are any offensive ways in our hearts. Please purify our hearts. Wash us with your precious blood. We are praying for every need of our dear friend. Please grant them. We are praying for those who are looking for peace. You are the prince of peace. Please fill them with your precious heavenly peace. We are praying for those who are looking for healing. Please touch them with your precious nail-pierced hands and heal them. We are praying for those who have lost loved ones during these years. Please comfort them and fill them with your peace. We are praying for those who are in financial challenges. Please bless their business. Provide them with a good job. Help them get back what they have lost. We are praying for those who are stuck in the pleasures of sins. Please strengthen them spiritually to overcome their past. Jesus, we commit all our prayers to your hand.

Dear Jesus, Help us to keep our focus on you. Help us to seek you with all our hearts. You are preparing a wonderful place for us. That is going to be more marvelous than what we can imagine. We pray in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
