Discovering the Greatest Truth: Knowing Ourselves in Christ

4.7

Dear Friend, it’s our pleasure to connect with you in May through this letter of encouragement. Jesus loves you dearly. He is with you right now, wherever you are. His love is deeper than the deepest ocean, and His grace is higher than the tallest mountain.

Before we meditate on this month’s encouragement, we would like to pray for your personal needs. Will you pray along with us?

Dear Jesus, we are praying along with a dear friend, who is reading this email right now. You know their heart. You know their needs. Please come and touch their lives. You are the God of heaven and the earth. You are the source of peace and happiness. You are the living water. Please flow through them. Please heal those who need physical healing. Let your nail-pierced hands touch them and heal them. We pray for those who need spiritual healing. Please forgive all their past mistakes. Wash them with your precious blood. We believe in you. You are our healer. We pray for those who are in financial difficulties. Please provide for their needs. Give them a source of income. Lead them out of the difficult situation they are going through. We pray in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

As the world is deeply innovating in Artificial Intelligence, it marvels at the AI’s growth. Our God is also inviting us to innovate. The innovation every human has to make does not need skills and knowledge but an open and diligent heart. We do not need to be scientists to make this innovation, but we ought to have a sincere heart.

The knowledge about who we are:

Mankind traveled beyond the world we live in and reached the moon, which is 385,000 KMs away. We sent equipment to Mars, which is 228 million KMs. What an achievement!!

In 1970, the Soviet Union started a project to conduct an experiment on Earth’s crust. But they could not go below 12 km from Earth’s surface due to technical difficulties. After five attempts, the project was shelved in 1992 due to a lack of funds. Nobody else pursued the experiment again.

Mankind knew a lot more about outer space by traveling 225 million KMs and above our heads than below the earth where we put our feet.

Our life is not different either. We know a lot about others, less about ourselves. The hardest thing for someone is to find out who they are and what the problem is with them. The easiest thing is to find fault with someone else.

Our eternity in heaven is decided by who we are rather than what we know about others.

Hence, satan attempts to deceive and distract us from knowing the truth of who we are.

A sister wrote to us a few years ago about the deep hurt she was experiencing because no one showed up for the party she had arranged. Not even her own daughters. We were asked to pray, seek the Lord, and find the answer. She came back after a few days. She found the reason in prayer. It is because of her selfishness.

She was known for organizing everything for her own glory. She cared less for others. Even her own daughter came to know about her selfish lifestyle, and they began to distance themselves. As she prayed, the Holy Spirit showed her the selfishness she had shown others for many years without realizing it.

Dear Friend, this is true in every one of our lives. Only the Holy Spirit can show us who we are. We might claim we are brilliant and know many things.

Deception of not knowing about us:

Some of us can be regular churchgoers and Bible readers. But still, our lives will be wasted if we truly do not know who we are.

Jesus said:

Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day, many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness. – Matthew 7:21-23 ESV

Dear Friend, it does not matter what we think about ourselves; it does matter what Jesus thinks about us.

Hence, please do not look at others. Go to the presence of Jesus with a humble heart and ask Him to reveal to you who you are. Ask Him to teach you the areas we need to change.

We are in the end times. There is a phenomenal growth in knowledge. There is a rush to gain this knowledge. We spend days and nights gathering the knowledge. The Bible gives a special warning exactly for today’s context.

But you, Daniel, keep this prophecy a secret; seal up the book until the time of the end, when many will rush here and there, and knowledge will increase. – Daniel 12:4 NLT

We are exactly in the above-mentioned times. We spend most of our time gathering knowledge about the latest and greatest the world can offer. The greatest knowledge lies in knowing who we are.

Thirst to know the truth about us:

Do we want to know the truth about us?

Jesus said,  When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. – John 16:13 NLT.

The greatest truth we want to know is about ourselves. Unless we invite the Holy Spirit and ask Him to teach us who we are, we will never discover the truth about where we stand.

Let’s ask the Holy Spirit to teach us about us. Let Him help us understand the areas we need to grow and those we have to fix.

In His message to the churches, Jesus always started by saying, “I know all the things you do.” He knows us. He understands us. He wants to help us align our lives with Him.

Dear Friend, let’s bow our heads with a humble heart and go to His presence today. Ask Him to teach us all about us.

Please pray the prayer below from the bottom of your heart.

Dear Jesus, I come to you with a humble heart. You are my God and my Lord. I do not know much about. My views in life are defined by my limited understanding of what is right. Please show me the things I need to correct and change. Mould my life. Help me to reconcile with you. Forgive my past mistakes. Holy Spirit, I welcome you into my life. Give me a new life. I pray in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
