Dear friend, are you worried about how your past decisions affect your future? Jesus wants to teach you how to live your life.
Once, a young man asked a rich man, “Sir, can you give me half of your wealth?” The rich man replied, “Sure, young man—one condition. Give me your age, and I will give you all my property. The young man was confused, so the rich man continued, saying, I know my past mistakes. If I could turn the clock back, I would make much more money than I have right now.
We often worry about our past mistakes. We wonder if, if only we had the power to turn the clock backward, we could make better decisions or have lived our lives differently.
Yielding our bodies to obsessions leads to lifelong health issues. When we Harbor bitterness and anger, it results in a lack of peace, hurt, and medical side effects. Wrong financial choices lead to worry and sorrow. Yet, we are confident in our ability to live on our terms. A lack of relationship with Jesus means no guidance and corrections from our heavenly master.
Today, we will ask our Lord Jesus to teach us how to live so that we do not regret our past. He is the author of life and knows what is good for us and what is not. He holds the past, present, and future.
Let’s follow the following principles as we ask Jesus to teach us how to live.
Being Humble:
Many of us lack humility before our Lord. Humility before God comes when we realize how small and insignificant we are.
The Bible says, “Humble yourselves [with an attitude of repentance and insignificance] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up, He will give you purpose].” – James 4:10 AMP.
For Jesus to teach us how to live, we should humble our hearts before him and accept who we are.
Our life is like a grass that withers. No one notices when the grass withers. A flower blooms and then disappears before our eyes.
The Bible says:
As for man, his days are like grass;
Like a flower of the field, so he flourishes.
For the wind passes over it and it is no more,
And its place knows it no longer. – Psalm 103:15-16 AMP
Whether we like it or not, this is our life. How careful should we be with the days we have? How diligent should our words be? How cautious should our actions be?
There are millions of things in life that we can not control, and there are questions for which we do not have answers.
Oh! Let our hearts learn to be humble and accept the insignificant nature of our lives. We should learn to be humble before our God, which would suit our souls.
From whom can we learn to be humble? We don’t have to go anywhere. Our Lord is a humble God. He taught us how to be humble. He washed his disciple’s feet. He was born as a human and humbled himself to death.
The Bible says, “He humbled Himself [still further] by becoming obedient [to the Father] to the point of death, even death on a cross.” – Philippians 2:8 AMP.
No one can humble himself like our Lord Jesus. He humbled himself as a mere human for you and me. He is our teacher. He can teach us how to humble our lives before him.

Being Fearful:
The wise man Solomon, in his old age, wrote the book of Ecclesiastes. He was a rich king. He enjoyed his life with gold, silver, and all the pleasures of this world. This was his conclusion after tasting everything in life:
Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty. God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad. – Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 NLT.
Solomon summarized the duty of our life. It is all about fearing God and obeying His commandments.
Solomon also explained what is fear of God:
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Proverbs 9:10 NIV
To fear the LORD is to hate evil; Proverbs 8:13 NIV
Don’t we know Jesus is the silent listener to every word we speak and a witness to every action and thought? The God of the Holy and righteousness is watching everything we do.
As Solomon said, fear of God is the source of wisdom. When we fear God, He will teach us how to live and help us make the right decisions.

Loving Him for what he has done:
Jesus expects us to love him willingly and wholeheartedly. He said:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. – Luke 12:30 NLT.
God does not want our money. He is not looking for our tithe. He wants our love.
Jesus said, If you love me, obey my commandments. John 14:15 NLT.
Unless we love him, we will not listen to his teaching, and if we do not love him, Jesus can not teach us how to live. Even if he teaches us, we will not listen to his word.
If Jesus has to teach us how to live, then we should love him. Love is the cornerstone of our relationship with Jesus.
Dear Friend, you might say that you are a sinner. You do not know Jesus or do not love Jesus with all your heart. Please open your heart and allow Jesus into your life. He will show you what He has done for you on the cross.
