If someone asks us if we are bound in the chain, then our immediate answer would be no. We are so proud to call ourselves free men. We do not want anyone to control us.
Many nations made enormous sacrifices to be free. Humanity paid a great deal of price to attain freedom.
However, even today, many chains are binding us. These chains do not tie our physical bodies. But they make our minds weary and push us into a depressed state. For example, debt, uncontrolled sexual desires, human obsessions, and the list can go on. Many times, we do not even realize when we are initially being chained. It starts with enjoyable pleasure and satisfaction. We feel the trap when the situation goes beyond our control. By then, it is too late to redeem ourselves.
Some time back, a girl wrote to us about her life. She came from a poor background. Her family was already financially strained. Hence, she moved to a city and earned money for her family. She got a good job in the new place. Everything was wonderful to start with. Then one of her friends introduced her to gambling. By luck, she even started winning some money. She thought it was a good way to earn additional income on top of her normal job. She thought she could help her family. Her intentions were all good. But her luck seems to have changed. She started losing a lot of money. She realized she had to stop gambling to stop her financial loss. But, she could not stop going to casinos. She realized she was not trying to help her family anymore. She is going to the casino because she is obsessed with gambling and is not able to stop it.
Gambling habit started to chain her life. She could not free herself. Her salary was no longer sufficient as she had lost all her money. She borrowed more money to continue gambling. Interest on her debt went above her salary. All her money went to pay the interest. There was nothing left to eat and live. She could not send anything back to her family.
Something strange happened then. A voice started speaking in her mind. The voice told her clearly that she can’t continue her shameful life anymore. She should find a way to end her life. The voice stunned her. It started repeating many times. Then fear covered her life. She became depressed and started getting suicidal thoughts.
Dear friend, You can understand how she was deceived from the beginning. She was convinced that gambling was not bad. With good intentions, she started everything. But ended up chained by gambling and lost all her money. In the end, she needed more help than her poor family back in the village.
We have seen people introduced to obsession, and walk into it by their own choice. They were not aware of what would be the consequences.
One young man went to the market and bought a CD. It had a picture of a flower. There was no name mentioned. He was bored and wanted to kill time. He bought the CD even after knowing it was not a normal CD. He went home and started seeing the video on the CD. It had excessive sexual content. He wrote to us with a painful heart. As he was watching the CD and enjoying it, an unknown spirit entered his mind. It chained his mind to sexual obsession. The young man wanted to be free from the obsession. But he could not come out of it but ended up walking deeper into it.
By now, you would have understood what kind of chain we are getting into. It is no longer the physical chains. We are trapped before we realize we are being chained.
Jesus wants to help break every chain
Oh! how beautiful our life would be if we knew how to avoid the traps of satan. He is a liar and a deceiver. He wants to destroy our life. The Bible says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” He takes great pleasure in stealing our happiness and peace. He wants to disconnect our relationship with God and destroy our souls. But, he can not destroy our life unless we allow him into our life. The Bible says, “Resist the devil and he will flee from you“
The Bible says, “Be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” He wants to devour and deceive our life.
Our human hearts long to be free from the chain. They want to break away from the chains. Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. ” Jesus wants to touch every heart that needs freedom. He wants to break every chain. Are you ready to go to the presence of Jesus? He wants to break every chain in your life.
The Bible gives a clear list of chains that can bind our lives.
“Sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these.“.
God wants to live our lives freely. He wants to give you freedom from all your pasts. Do not worry. Let’s go to His presence and ask Jesus to bless your life. He wants to break every chain. You do not have to pay anything. He wants to release you right now. Are you ready to receive his freedom? Let’s pray.
Please place your hand on your heart and call upon the name of Jesus. Pray the below prayer along with us from the bottom of your heart. Jesus wants to touch you. He is listening to your prayers. He wants to break the chains in your life.
Dear Jesus, I come to you with a humble heart. You know my heavy heart. Please come and touch on my life. I want to be free. Free from all the chains. Jesus, you know all about my past, present, and future. I was deceived and trapped in many obsessions. I thought what I was doing was harmless. But I was chained and imprisoned now. I seek you with all my heart. You are my God. You alone can give me freedom. I need your living water. Please forgive all my past mistakes. Wash me with your precious blood. Please lift me. Make me a useful instrument for you. I want to follow you. Please hold my hands and lead me. Break all the chains that have imprisoned me. Make me free. Let me glorify your name throughout my life. I believe in you. Jesus, I put all my trust in you. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
