So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. - Jesus Christ
Many have written to us on the matter of debt, addictions, depression, loss of jobs, and many other issues that they are going through in life. Some have written that they have lost all hope for the future and they do not know how to face their tomorrow.
Dear friend, Are you in one of these situations? Are you going through the fear of how you are going to face tomorrow during these difficult times? Jesus wants to break the fear of tomorrow. He wants to help us today. We can surely overcome the fear. The God who created us knows how to lead us out of our problems when we humble ourselves before Him.
God’s Plan and our Response
When an engineer designs a home, he gives careful consideration to various aspects such as strength, durability, beauty, etc. He considers how much deep the foundation has to go based on the soil analysis. During construction, the exact design and specifications provided by the engineer have to be followed to build a sturdy house.
Each of our life is carefully designed by God, who understands the future. God crafts every one of our life with reason and purpose. Equip us with skills and talents to face our tomorrow. We have the free will to build our life as per God’s design. If we follow the outline of the design, then our life gets built on a solid foundation God has in mind.
However, the complete description of our life's design with the details is not revealed to us. Instead, we are being asked to trust in God every day and our future is revealed to us progressively as we walk with Him. Obeying and following God’s plan by depending on Him leads to a fulfilling life with no regrets.
We also have the option not to follow the original purpose of God. We have the freedom of choice to go against God’s design and plan. The option the world offers seems much attractive than obeying and following God’s plan. We might believe we are in full control of our future by doing what we want to do than what God wants us to do. But at some point, the foundation of our life flounders, since we went against the design of the original creator of our life.
It leads to disappointments and fear of what will happen tomorrow as we end up in unknown territory where we are not supposed to there by design. Dear friend, have you run far away from Jesus at any point in time. Jesus is waiting for you. He wants to embrace you and give you a good life. Please reconcile with Him. Is God asking us to trust Him Blindly in His plan?
God does not give us the entire outline of His plan. It is progressively revealed as we walk with him every day. Are we called to trust God blindly, with no outcome?
When an engineer makes a plan for our home, we trust his credibility. We put faith in his educational background, enquire about previous projects he has executed, and references we have received on his good work from others. We trust the engineer based on the above credibility.
Similarly, depending on God for our future requires trust. If we need to understand the credibility of God, we should read the Bible to know more about who He is and what He has done. The sixty-six books in the Bible explain much about God’s love for us, His wisdom, and His supreme sacrifice for humanity through His son, Jesus Christ. Also, the scripture is filled with God's promises for humanity. He expects us to trust Him based on His promises. God does not change, He does not lie, and hence His promises change neither. We can boldly trust him based on the promises and commit our future to him.
Let’s look at some of them from the Bible. These promises are available to each of us independent of our background, past life, and situations.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Do Not Fear, For I Am With You; Do Not Be Dismayed, For I Am Your God. I Will Strengthen You And Help You; I Will Uphold You With My Righteous Right Hand.
Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you.
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Abraham Trusted God for Tomorrow
God spoke to a man called Abraham. He was living in Haran in Babylon. In those days, Babylon (currently known as Iraq) was the center of cultural development and the most developed place in the region of the middle east. When Abraham was 75 years old, God asked him to move to a place called Canaan. He asked Abraham to trust Him based on the promise.
“I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”
Abraham never got a full outline of the above promise. He did not have a child at the age of seventy-five though he received the promise from God that he will become a great nation. But Abraham still trusted God for his tomorrow. He started his journey towards the land of Cannan. He walked hundreds of miles obeying God’s call. God blessed Abraham, and He became the father of faith.
Very similar to promises God has given to Abraham, scripture contains multiple promises for our future too. Our God is not a man to change His mind. All His promises do not change over time and circumstances in our life. God gives it to everyone who trusts in Him.
Dear friend, Jesus holds our tomorrow in His safe hands. He knows your future. He has given every one of us wonderful promises. If we have to face tomorrow without fear, we have to start trusting Jesus from TODAY. Put all the plans and aspirations into the hands of Jesus. Let our life be tuned to the original purpose for which God has created for us. He is our heavenly father, who cares for us. He can hold our hands and walk us through to tomorrow.
It is never too late to surrender the areas which are not submitted to Christ. We might like to keep one secret corner of our lives to ourselves. Our family may not know it and our friends may not recognize it. But Jesus knows every corner of our heart. Let’s pray to Jesus. Ask Him to control every corner of our heart and take away the fear of tomorrow.
Dear Jesus, I come to you. You know my situation and the troubles I am going through in life. I put my hope in you. I am sorry I have made mistakes in the past. I made wrong choices. Please forgive my past. Thank you for all the wonderful promises you have given to me. Help me to hold on to them every day in my life. Thank you for loving me. Please help me to face my tomorrow.
At times I feel there is no hope in my life. I understand now that you are my hope. You are the hope for my tomorrow. Please touch my life. Please change my future. I am so happy that you are in control of my future. Jesus, I can boldly face tomorrow because of you. I pray in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
If you have confessed your past and repented from it then Jesus has already forgiven your past. The Bible says, "if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness." Jesus is faithful to forgive all our past. Do not worry. He will hold your hands and lead you. Seek Him every day and Hold on to His hands.
