What to do when you feel hopeless?

Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again-my Savior and my God! – The Bible.

Dear Reader, are you going through a hopeless situation? Do you think there is no solution to your situation? When there is no light on the horizon, when the hope starts failing and others start taunting us, our heart grapples for hope to stay strong and move on. How can we muster hope when there is none left within us? Should we keep toiling in the same place as a worm toil in a miry clay looking for hope? The answer is no.

When we are thirsty we need a fountain. When are sick we need a doctor. When we go through hopelessness we need someone who can give us hope. This hope can’t be a bunch of motivational speeches or bunches of words and quotes. The hope that comes from words and speeches will vanish after a few hours. But true hope for a human comes from God who created mankind. The Bible says, “His (Jesus) name will be the hope of all the world.”

What to do when you feel hopeless?

There are things we can purchase from the shop. But the hope can not be shopped. There are times we can fill our thoughts with emotional entertainment to escape the emptiness of our minds. But hope can neither be shopped nor can be induced through emotions. It has to be received through humble and open prayers from God, who is the source of hope.

Anyone who needs hope need not spend any money or travel to a distant place. All he has to do is look at God and do the following:

  1. Reconcile with God and turn from his past.
  2. Call out the name of Jesus. Ask him to help you.
  3. Receive your hope in faith

Reconcile Your Life with Jesus

Dear reader, you might have heard about Jesus before or even might have visited some church in the past. Some of you might have accepted him as your Lord many years ago.

Jesus came to earth to forgive all our past mistakes and make peace between man and God. No man can enter God’s presence unless he is holy. But all of us sinned and fell short of God’s glorious standard. How do we erase our past mistakes? How can we enter God’s presence once again and ask for hope? God himself paved the way for us. He sent His son Jesus to die for all our sins. Jesus died on the cross to forgive our past mistakes and make us righteous before God. All we have to do to reconcile with God is to ask Jesus to forgive our past.

It does not matter how bad is your past. The blood of Jesus, He has shed on the cross is capable of forgiving all your past.

Shall we call upon the name of the Lord right now and ask Him to forgive our past? Let’s pray. Please place your hand on your heart and call upon the name of Jesus. Invite Him into your life. Pray the below prayer in your own words from the bottom of your heart.

Dear Jesus, I <your name> come to you with a humble heart. I am a sinner. I have mistakes in my past through my thoughts, words, and actions. Please forgive me, Lord. I am worthy to ask for forgiveness. I have sinned knowingly and willingly. Please come into my life. I need your forgiveness. Wash me and cleanse me. I do not want to do what I have done in the past. Give me a new heart. Renew my mind. Give me the spiritual strength to flee from my past mistakes. Help me to live a new life. Fill my heart with your peace. I want to be your child. I receive your forgiveness in faith. I believe in you. In Jesus’s mighty name, I pray. Amen.

Dear Reader, we are so happy that you were able to reconcile with Jesus today. More than Jesus is happy that you decided to follow Him. He is your heavenly father. If you have asked for forgiveness, he has truly forgiven all your past. The Bible says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Ask Jesus to help you

Now you have reconciled with Jesus there is nothing that separates you and God. You can freely go to His presence and pour out your heart in His presence. Jesus said, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye. shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh. findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” It’s your turn to ask and God will answer the prayers according to “His will”. What is “His will” means? If a child asks for a snake will a father buy a snake and give it to the child? No, he will not. In the same way, Jesus knows what is best for our life. So He answers our prayers according to His will. Jesus summarized it nicely.

Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

Jesus wants to give you His best. But it’s our responsibility to ask with faith that Jesus will answer our prayers. The Bible says, “When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”

Now we are going to call out the name of Jesus and pour out our hearts in His presence. Let’s go to the presence of Jesus one more time to tell Him what you are going through right now.

Receive your hope in faith

Dear Friend, Jesus listened to your prayers. Now it’s our time to receive our answers through faith. The Bible says, “Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

Your prayers will never go in vain. Jesus will surely answer them. Please continue to trust in Jesus. Humble your heart and wait for the answers from God. Continue to hold on to Him. The God we worship is much bigger than the problems and the situation we go through. He will surely lift you up.

James who is the brother of Jesus wrote, “When you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.” Let’s keep our eyes focused on Jesus.

Let’s go to the presence of Jesus and receive hope from the hope of the world.

Dear Jesus, I come to you with a humble heart. You know the hopeless condition I am living in. Please come into my life. Thank you for forgiving all my past mistakes and washing me with your precious blood. I put all my trust in you. You alone can change my life. You are the hope of the world. Jesus, I believe in you. You will surely wipe away all my tears. Let your light shine in my life. I do not have to be discouraged. I do not have to be sad anymore. I have already put all my hope in you. You will answer my prayer. Please answer my prayer. Please do not delay. In Jesus’s mighty name, we pray. Amen.

Dear friend, Jesus loves you. He will lift you. We are praying along with you. Jesus will answer the prayers. We would like to leave you with some more promises. May Jesus bless you and make you a blessing for many.

In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles.

Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing.

The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help.
