When we become infected with COVID-19, we experience associated symptoms such as cough and fever. When we visit our general practitioners, they normally ask for symptoms of our body problems. The symptoms provide a signal that our body is sick. They are God-given signals to get our attention.
In the same way, a guilty conscience is a God-given symptom that indicates our life is not right with God. When we are sick, we may get headaches and fever. When we sin, we get a guilty conscience. We have the option to ignore the headache, pain, and guilty consciousness. We can try to suppress them. But they are the warning signs that say something is wrong with us. Unless the symptoms are treated properly and the underlying root cause is addressed, we might suffer serious and irreversible consequences.
Why do we feel Guilty?
The Bible says, “The wages of sin is death.” This does not mean every person who sins immediately dies. The death here means spiritual death. Every person who sins is led to spiritual death that is away from the presence of God.
Jesus said, “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” A guilty conscience is a warning sign a man is deviating from a satisfying life and pivoting toward his spiritual death. Nobody has to teach us lying is wrong. No one has to take classroom training that stealing is wrong. We knew all this before we started our kindergarten. How did we know it? The Bible says God created us in His image. He embedded His moral code in every one of us. We knew instantly what was right and what was wrong. When we choose to do what is wrong and go against God’s moral code, the warning is given to us, i.e., our guilty conscience.
How to come out of Guilty Conscious?
Our Governments have installed governance over us. They keep a code of punishment for lying, stealing, and wrong behaviors. Similarly, when we act against God’s moral code, our relationship with God is broken. None of us born as humans can keep our lives following God’s moral standards. We fail miserably. None can boldly say they are sinless.
Hence, God sent his son Jesus Christ to forgive those who genuinely seek and strive to keep their lives holy. We know we can not keep our lives holy through our strength. God sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to suffer and die for our sins. Jesus took all our sins and the associated curses and became cursed by dying on the cross. The Bible says, “Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing.” Through the supreme sacrifice and love of Jesus, our life was spared from the punishment of sin.
Jesus offered forgiveness to all who sought Him through his death and resurrection and yearned for a holy life. This forgiveness is given to us free of cost. The Bible says, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.” God wants to forgive all our past and make our lives as white as wool.
To cleanse our lives and be free from guilt, we do not have to travel to many places, meet many saints, or spend money. All we have to do is call upon the name of Jesus and invite Him into our lives. Tell Him that you are so sorry about what has happened. Ask Jesus to forgive our past mistakes. He will surely forgive the past and remove the guilt conscious.
If our mistakes impact other people, please reconcile with them and ask for forgiveness. If it involves forgiving others, Jesus will give you strength to forgive them. Please ask him. Whoever asks him will receive.
Please ask Jesus to come into your life and cleanse all your past mistakes. He will wash away your past. Shall we pray to Jesus?
Please place your hand on your heart. Call upon the name of Jesus. Pray the below prayer in your own words. We are praying along with you. Jesus is listening to our prayers.
Dear Jesus, I come to you with a humble heart. You know my past life. You know the guilty conscience I am going through. Please come into my life. Forgive all my past mistakes. Wash me with your precious blood. You alone can forgive my past mistakes. Change my life. Please give me the strength to run away from my past. Help me forgive those who harmed me.
Please give me the strength to ask for forgiveness from those I have wronged. Give me a new heart. A heart that always longs for you and follows you. A heart that loves you from its utmost depth. Jesus, I want to be your child. Be my heavenly father. Hold my hands and lead me. Fill my heart with your heavenly peace. Take away the fear. I believe in you. I put all my trust in you. In Jesus’s mighty name, I pray. Amen.
Dear friend, Jesus loves you. We are praying for everyone who reads our website. May Jesus bless you and make you a blessing to many.
