How to overcome the world and live a victorious life?

Take heart! I (Jesus) have overcome the world.John 16:33

Dear Beloved, How are you? We are glad to connect with you through our monthly newsletter. Remember, Jesus loves you and cares for you deeply. We are grateful for the opportunity to communicate with you once again.

If you are getting this message for the first time, it is from our monthly newsletter, which shares a message of encouragement in the first week of every month.

Jesus wants to help us overcome and live a victorious life. We long for a victorious life. Everyone wants victory regarding financial status, family health, a closer walk with our Lord, and peaceful living.

Yet, we often find ourselves doing what we do not want to do and seeing what we do not want to see. Some struggle with gambling, knowing they are losing money but unable to break free. We all battle with desires for the fleeting pleasures the world offers: wealth, status, and positions. We long for victory and break away from the world’s pleasures, but it seems our lives take a different direction than we intend.

Dear friend, do you want to live a victorious life and be an overcomer? We are writing to you. Jesus wants to help you today. He said, Take heart! I (Jesus) have overcome the world.

You are His precious child. He wants you to overcome everything binding your life and set you free. Are you ready to receive His freedom?

Why do we need victory over the world?

The Bible says For the World offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the  Father, but are from this world. – 1 John 2:16 NLT.

The world offers an uncontrollable urge to think about fulfilling our desires. The desires of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the craving for more consume all our thoughts. Television and the internet control our time more than anyone else. We end up browsing one YouTube video after another. Social media likes and followers seem to create true purpose.

The wise man Solomon summarizes the world’s pleasures as “meaningless.” He wrote this book in his old age, reflecting on his past life.

So I (Solomon) became greater than all who had lived in Jerusalem before me, and my wisdom never failed me. Anything I wanted, I would take. I denied myself no pleasure. I even found great pleasure in hard work, a reward for all my labors. But as I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was  all so meaningless—like chasing the wind. There was nothing really  worthwhile anywhere. – Ecclesiastes 2:9-11.

Another translation of the above verse uses the word vapor instead of meaningless. What the world offers is like a vapor. It appears and disappears.

Dear friend, if you are going to chase the pleasures of this world, it is going to be a vapor. Once, a great man asked his hands to be left outside the coffin to let everyone know that he came to this world empty-handed and is now leaving the world empty-handed.

I was talking to my children about my childhood days. I never thought time would fly away so fast. If you are a young person, you will never believe your time also will pass away quickly. You will find it hard to accept that you will be old soon. Yet it is truth. Yet, after knowing the truth, we chase meaningless lives of vapor.

But there is one who has overcome the world and all its desires. His name is Jesus.

Are you holding on to the world tightly?

It is time to consider whether you are holding on to the world tightly and burying yourself in its desires, worries, and pleasures.

If we have to overcome the world, then we need to stop loving it. Jesus said, No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand devotedly by the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and mammon [that is, your earthly possessions or anything else you trust in and rely on instead of God].” – Luke 16:13 AMP.

How can I stop loving the world while I am living in it? Well, if we love Jesus more than the world, then the world’s attractions will stop.

Apostle John wrote, “Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.” – 1 John 2:15 NLT.

The above verse clearly says we will love God or the World. It reconfirms what our Lord Jesus said: No one can serve two masters.

If you are holding on to the world tightly, tell yourself that you are trying to hold a vapor, and you have to let it go. The truth is that the world is going to let you go at some point.

Those who use the things of the world should not become attached to them. For this world as we know it will soon pass away.1 Corinthians 7:31 NLT

Overcome the world with the help of Cross:

We can only overcome the world when we put forward Christ first everywhere. Love for Christ should be first, and dedication to knowing what Jesus wants to do through our lives should come before what we want to do. Our prayers should focus on Jesus and His wishlist. Our wishlist should take secondary priority.

Apostle Paul wrote:

As for me, may I never boast about anything except the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that Cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died.Galatians 6:14 NLT.

If you are holding on to the world tightly, please set aside and hold on to Cross tightly. It is not worth holding on to a world that will pass away like a vapor.

Look at the Cross, where our savior died and was crucified for the sake of our mistakes. He completed everything for us to be free and overcome the world. He wants us to overcome the world and serve one master wholeheartedly.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.Galatians 2:20 NLT.

The Lord who gave himself for you is waiting to set you free. This will not be a one-day or a momentary decision. But it is a decision you must make constantly, every minute of your life, and every choice you make. There is a power in the Biblical verse that is quoted above. Use it every day to lead a victorious life.

Let’s go to the presence of Jesus and stand before the Cross. Are you ready to love Jesus more than everything in the world? Are you prepared to crucify your worldly love to the same Cross Jesus was crucified?

Let’s pray together in faith. Jesus is listening to our prayers. He knows your heart. He wants to release you from all your past.

Please place your hand on your heart and call upon the name of Jesus. Pray the below prayer along with us from the bottom of your heart.

Dear Jesus, I come to you with a humble heart. I want to overcome worldly pleasures and live a victorious life. You have overcome the world when you lived your life on earth. Please help me. Help me to crucify my worldly desires. As your words say, help me to serve you and you alone in my life. Forgive all my past mistakes. Let my attraction to the world and all its pleasures vapourize now. Let me love you with all my soul and strength from the bottom of my heart. I want to trust you and make a bold step to come out of the desires of this world. Be my God and lead me. I pray in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

Dear Friend, I want to close this message with a story.

A man took a tiny cub and loved it so much that he grew it like one of his children. The cub grew along with his family members. It ate what the family ate and slept with the family.

It grew and became a mighty lion. Still, it played with the man’s children as if it was one of the family members. One day, it tasted the blood. On that very day, it started behaving differently. It started hunting for blood. It’s inherent nature of the lion returned. It became a dangerous animal as soon as it tasted the blood.

We humans are inherently born with a sinful nature. God can make us holy by forgiving our sins, but any contact with sin will trigger the old nature. The pleasures of sin will surround us, quickly derailing our spiritual life. Even if you slip away, remember Jesus loves you. He will be waiting for you with open arms. Do not hesitate to go back to Him.

We are praying for you. May Jesus bless you and make you a great blessing for many. Keep in touch.
